Notice on Ramadan
Please enjoy Ramadan but follow the guidance on social distancing. If you have a medical condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or lung disease, or you are on medication, or pregnant, or elderly, or in the highest risk group that are asked to stay at home for 12 weeks, please choose alternative options to fasting, in order to protect yourself from Covid-19. The NHS Muslim Network and the British Islamic Medical Association are advising that missed fasts can be made up at a later date in the year.

For patients currently shielding, it is possible to register here for food and/or prescription delivery.
Hackney foodbanks process currently as below:
- Patients can request a referral letter/email from their Practice stating - “'This is a foodbank voucher referral for CLIENT who is currently residing in ADDRESS.”
- The email or letter needs to include:
- Resident’s age
- How many people are living in the household (and their ages)
- Brief reason for referral (e.g. health reasons, benefit delay, loss of work - no need for specifics/personal information).
Once the resident has the referral email/letter, they can find the times and locations of Hackney Foodbanks.
Children who are eligible for free school meals
The majority of schools in Hackney have set up systems for free school meals which include meal vouchers/cards and collections from the child’s school.
Other food provision
The Find Support Services Map has a category for food/meals. You can download a snapshot at anytime - please note that the organisations on here are checked twice a week.
When possible, patients should encourage relatives, neighbours or friends to provide support in collecting or delivering medication. Where this support is not available the patient should contact their community pharmacy directly to arrange for their prescription to be delivered.
If the pharmacy is unable to help or the patient cannot get through to the pharmacy, residents can fill out this online form or call the helpline.

The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.
For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild infection
The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
• new continuous cough and/or
• high temperature
If you have symptoms of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), stay at home and do not leave your house for 7 days from when your symptoms started.
You do not need to call NHS111 to go into self-isolation. If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after 7 days contact NHS 111 online.
If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.

Childhood IMMS Event | 15th March
We are now offering some early morning telephone consultation appointments on Mondays and Thursdays. These appointments are from 7.30am to 8am and are prebookable online from 7 days before. They are primarily for patients who work and who are unable to answer the phone during the normal hours.

If you have travelled from China or have been in contact with someone confirmed as having Coronavirus in the last two weeks, you may be at risk of Coronavirus. Please do NOT leave the house. Instead, ring 111 if:
- You have been in China in the last 14 days and develop cough, fever or shortness of breath; or
- You have been in Wuhan or Hubei Province in the last 14 days or have been in contact with someone confirmed as having Coronavirus, even if you feel well

Free Sleep Service - learn more!
Scope launched a new free Sleep Service in Nov 2018 in East London, for residents in Newham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets and have have recently included Redbridge and Waltham Forest.
Scope’s Sleep Service programme supports families with disabled children and/or additional needs aged 2 to 18, who are having difficulty sleeping.
This service offers the following:
• Support from an experienced sleep practitioner over a six-week period
• A tailored sleep plan to help their child get a better night’s sleep
• Relaxed group learning sessions with other families

WALK-IN FLU CLINICS
From Monday 4th November to Friday 8th November any patients eligible for flu injections can walk-in to the main reception between 11am and 12pm to get their free NHS flu jab.
There are also walk in clinics on the following days
Wednesday 6th November 3pm-6pm
Wednesday 13th November 4pm - 6pm
Wednesday 20th November 8.30am to 10.30am
Patients can also book an appointment online or by phoning reception to have their flu jab at a time of their choice.
We would urge all patients to protect themselves against flu and have their flu jab early.
You said, We did.......Early morning phone calls
We are aware that some patients working shifts have found it difficult to book telephone appointments. We now have some early morning telephone calls available from 7.30am to 8am on Thursday and Friday mornings. These early morning phone calls are for shift workers or teachers who are unable to answer the phone during the normal working day and can be booked online up to 7 days in advance.
Do you need to request a copy of your medical record or a confirmation of registration letter?

We are excited to announce that Group Consultations are coming to Spring Hill. In response to studies that have shown clear benefits for patients, clinicians and GP practices, City and Hackney CCG are now implementing Group Consultations across Hackney.
Group consultations are a new way of delivering patient care and we will be using these for our chronic disease reviews (Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, COPD). Patients will be invited to a group consultation rather than their normal chronic disease review. You will be able to share your experiences within a group but will have your condition managed and reviewed in the same way as normal, by a GP, nurse or pharmacist. Please see the useful documents section of the website for more information including Frequently Asked Questions. Alternatively you can ask reception for further information and a patient leaflet. You do not need to do anything and will be invited to your chronic disease review in the normal way.

Blood test results available ONLINE
Patients with online access are now able to view their blood results online using the Patient Access App or on the Patient Access Website. Please speak to
reception if you would like to register online to access your results.
If you are already online but cannot see results please speak to reception to enable this feature.
Advice for patients travelling abroad
Patients who are staying outside the UK for more than 3 months will be removed from the practice list, but will be able to register on their return, so long as they are still living in the practice catchment area.
Repeat prescriptions can be provided for a maximum of 3 months with the exception of Levothyroxine and oral contraceptives for which up to 12 months can be prescribed, so long as you have had a recent medication review.
If you should require medical advice or treatment while travelling then you will need to seek it in the country you are in.

Over the counter medications
From the 17th June we will stop prescribing medicines that are available to buy over the counters at chemists as part of an NHS England and CCG initiative.

Evening Blood Tests
Blood tests are no longer limited to morning appointments. You can now book appointments for blood tests up until 6.30pm.

We have recently changed our appointment system as patients were waiting several weeks for a routine appointment with a GP and were often having to come into the practice for things that could easily have been sorted out over the phone. Our new system enables most patients to have a telephone consultation with a GP on the day they contact the practice. If you need to be seen the GP will book you a face to face appointment that same day.
Using this system we are able to offer a lot more appointments each day and current feedback suggests that patients are now finding it much easier to speak to their doctor and to be seen on the day they want to be seen.
