Polio Update

Poliovirus is spreading in North and East London

Poliovirus can be carried without showing any symptoms and easily transmitted from person to person. Poliovirus is a life-threatening infection of the nerves that can cause serious disability, permanent paralysis, or even death.

Polio is preventable. Immunisation is the best protection against this disease. (Please note that the Polio vaccination is combined and not a single vaccine).

All children aged 1 to 9 years in London are being offered a polio vaccination. For some children, this may be an extra dose of the polio vaccine, on top of their routine vaccinations. In other children, it may just bring them up to date.

Please contact Spring Hill Practice and book this vaccination for your child. You can also book an appointment for the polio vaccination using online access. If it is more convenient for you, below are other vaccination sites in Hackney that offer polio vaccination.
