Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers regarding travel vaccines, fees, and booking times.

When should I book my travel appointment?

We strongly recommend submitting your questionnaire at least 6 to 8 weeks before traveling. Some vaccines require multiple doses over a period of weeks to provide full immunity.

Are travel vaccinations free on the NHS?

Certain core travel vaccinations (such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Cholera) are provided free on the NHS if recommended. Other specialized travel vaccines (such as Yellow Fever, Hepatitis B or Rabies) incur a private fee. The nurse will explain which vaccines are recommended for your trip and which are NHS-funded or private.

What if I am traveling very soon?

Submit your questionnaire immediately. While full immunity takes time, our clinical team will evaluate your risk and administer what is safely possible prior to your departure.

Do I need malaria medication?

Malaria prevention depends on your specific destination and itinerary. Some destinations have a risk of malaria. Malaria is not prevented by a routine travel vaccine. Depending on where you are travelling, you may need advice about mosquito bite prevention and malaria prevention tablets.

The nurse will advise you if malaria prevention may be relevant to your trip. Malaria tablets are usually not provided free on the NHS and may need to be purchased privately or through a pharmacy.
