Inclusivity
At Spring Hill Practice, we are dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patients. We welcome people of every background, including LGBTQ+ communities, autistic individuals, and those living with disabilities. Our team is trained to understand diverse needs, communicate with sensitivity, and offer care that is accessible, person-centred, and free from discrimination.
We have completed the Autism Friendly Practice Checklist to ensure our services are supportive and accessible for autistic patients, and we are currently working towards Pride in Practice accreditation to further strengthen our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Everyone is valued here, and we are committed to ensuring that all patients feel supported and heard.
LGBTQ+
We are committed to providing a welcoming and respectful environment for all LGBTQ+ patients. Our staff are trained in inclusive communication and confidentiality, and we are currently working towards Pride in Practice accreditation to strengthen the quality of care we provide. We aim to ensure every patient feels safe, supported, and understood.
Autism
Empty heading
Spring Hill Practice has completed the Autism Friendly Practice Checklist to make sure our environment and processes are accessible and supportive for autistic patients. We focus on clear communication, reduced sensory stress where possible, and offering adjustments such as ear defenders, sunglasses and sensory toys to help patients feel comfortable and prepared during their visit. These items are available at reception upon request.
.Disabilities
We are committed to ensuring healthcare is accessible for patients with disabilities, mobility challenges, sensory needs, or communication support requirements. Our practice follows the Accessible Information Standard, meaning we will identify, record, and respond to individual information and communication needs. This includes providing information in alternative formats such as large print, braille, easy-read, audio, or email, and arranging communication support like British Sign Language interpreters where needed.
Our facilities and services are designed to be accessible: we offer clearly marked disabled parking bays, step-free access to the building, induction loop systems at reception, private rooms where helpful, and support from trained staff to assist patients with mobility or sensory requirements. Guide dogs and other assistance animals are also welcome. Read more here: Spring Hill Practice
Safe Surgery
In partnership with Doctors of the World UK, we will ensure that our practice offers a welcoming space for everyone who seeks to use our services. Mindful of our duties to uphold equality and human rights law, we will implement patient registration policies which do not discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status or any other characteristic.
Supported by the Safe Surgeries initiative, we will ensure that our staff understand the specific barriers faced by migrants in vulnerable circumstances and that they are empowered to mitigate these barriers, where possible. We will ensure that a lack of identification or proof of address, immigration status or language do not prevent patient registration.
As a member of the Safe Surgeries community, we will endeavour to support other Safe Surgeries and, where appropriate, provide feedback to Doctors of the World UK to support the development of the network.
Doctors of the world have a wide range of translated documents for patients to access for free.
